No place in the world is quite like Dubai.
The largest of the seven United Arab Emirates, Dubai strives to be the fastest, the biggest, the highest and the most extravagant city and it achieves all of these goals. In short, Dubai is the ultimate travel destination for tourists looking for a good time. Dubai has it all, from beautiful beaches to fine dining, sporting events, parties and nightclubs, and world class shopping. There is certainly no shortage of activities for visitors. However, it is important to keep in mind that if you are planning a trip to Dubai you will have to spend a lot of money. There are over ten shopping malls in the city and most of Dubai’s clubs, restaurants and hotels are the epitome of luxury, but you have to pay for the VIP treatment and service you’ll receive. Dubai is home to the only 7-star hotel in the world - the Burj al-Arab hotel. If you are looking to splurge, then staying in this hotel is like nothing else you’ll experience. However, most tourists will have to settle for tours of the facility. Tours are not offered when the hotel is full, so call first. Modern Dubai is also home to the tallest structure in the world - Burj Dubai. This landmark is more than 800 meters high and it can’t be missed. If you are looking to relax, then you can sunbathe on Dubai’s beaches or visit the Palm Islands - the three largest man-made islands in the world. The Palm Islands are home to a number of resorts, condos and residences. A water theme park featuring rides and attractions is also in the works. Another one of Dubai’s crowned jewels is Dubai Ski, an indoor ski slope located in the new Mall of the Emirates. Dubai Ski provides skis or snowboards when you buy a pass and if you get cold you can buy jackets, hats and gloves there as well. Not all of Dubai is completely modern. While in the city, visit some of the older sites including Dubai’s first school, the Bastakiya District with traditional architecture and style, the Jumeirah Mosque, and the Dubai Museum, which covers the social history of Dubai. The Gold Souk and Spice Souk historic markets are not to be missed.
