Fly High on the London Eye

Fly High on the London EyeJust as the Eiffel Tower has come to be a symbol of Paris, the Statue of Liberty has come to be a symbol of New York and the Taj Mahal has come to be a symbol of India, the London Eye is a quintessential London icon.

The largest Farris wheel in Europe, London tourists flock to the London Eye for the best view of the city.
Over 3.5 million visitors ride the London Eye each year.  From its enclosed pods, visitors have a wonderful view of the entire city.  The flight lasts for about half an hour, and sights include Westminster, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Battersea Power Station, St Paul’s Cathedral, the BT Tower, the Gherkin and more.  When visiting the Eye, plan to wait in line for a while to get on.  Although the wait can be long, it’s worth it once you see the view from up high.  Another option is to purchase a fast track ticket - for an additional payment you don’t have to wait in line.
If you are spending a few days in London, then make sure to check the weather forecast before visiting the London Eye.  It is best to visit on a clear day for the best view.  On a cloudy day you will not be able to see as far.
Before or after your ride on the big wheel, you can take a ride on the London Eye River Cruise.  The river cruise goes around the area of the London Eye and visits such popular tourist attractions as Big Ben, Parliament, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral.  Enjoy the interesting audio commentary as you view the city of London from a different vantage point.
When you visit the London Eye, you can also purchase joint tickets with the Sea Life London Aquarium, which is located adjacent to the Eye.  The aquarium is home to a number of exciting sea creatures including stingrays and features a glass tunnel walkway for a unique under water experience.
The next time you are in London don’t miss out on taking a ride on the London Eye, one of the most exciting experiences in this big city.  Once you experience the view and excitement of the Eye, you’ll understand why so many people flock to this giant Ferris wheel each year.
