The park, which has been family owned and run since 1896, features twelve roller coasters, five of which are wooden, including the Grand National, Zipper Dipper, Big Dipper and simply, Rollercoaster. The Pepsi Max Big One, a coaster that reaches up to 74 miles per hour and has its highest point at 235 feet above sea level, was the fastest and steepest coaster in the world when it opened in 1994. The coaster is still the tallest in the United Kingdom and visitors travel from around the country and world to ride it. The park is also home to the last Wild Mouse wooden roller coaster in existence and the last operating three-track racing steel roller coaster, the Steeplechase. Pleasure Beach Blackpool also boasts a number of other exciting thrill rides, water rides and general rides, including go-karts, bumper cars and a ghost train. After the rides, you and your family can dance on ice at the Arena, in the Arosa Ice Rink. The rink offers public skating and skating lessons, as well as private bookings. From time to time, exciting ice shows take place in the Arena as well, including the popular show Hot Ice. There is no shortage of good food at Pleasure Beach Blackpool. Head to Bradley Beaver Catering Co, Rib Shack, The Grill, The Horseshoe, The Star, the White Tower Restaurant or one of the many fast food options for an array of food from fried chicken and fish ‘n chips to sausages, donuts and other snacks.
